What is a Registered Apprenticeship?

Registered Apprenticeship is an industry-driven, high-quality career pathway where employers can develop and prepare their future workforce, and individuals can obtain paid work experience, and progressive wage increases, classroom instruction, and a portable, nationally recognized credential. Registered Apprenticeships are industry-vetted and are approved and validated by the U.S. Department of Labor or a State Apprenticeship Agency.

Requirements to complete the program:

Must be Referred by The Department of Rehabilitation 

Related Technical Instruction (RTI) – 144 hours required

  • CAPS Academy training: 80 hours
  • Accessing Community Resources Project: 64 hours

Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification Exam

  • Within the first two weeks of completion of CAPS Academy, you will need to create a CalMHSA application and register to take the Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification exam.

On-The-Job Training (OJT) – Competency Based

  • Once employed, the employer will be asked to be a sponsor for you
  • Employer Sponsors will track your skill building as you learn the competencies of the position

Once completed you will earn your United States Department of Labor- Office of Apprenticeship Certificate of Completion
